Dimensional paints and Twinks

Playing with fabric paints and twinks.
I made the flowers, cut them out then glued them  to an already painted background. All from an online course from Joanne Sharpe called Bling it On.
Very freeing!

Textures on Newspaper pages

I was playing with a variety of textures on torn strips of newspaper. After tearing the sheets freehand, I glued two pieces together to make the pages more sturdy, but not the same height. I then proceeded to paint, spritz, and apply molding paste through stencils onto the pages. I also did some stamping.

I then folded them in half and placed them inside a leather cover, and stitched just one signature.

The brass clasp is from the hardware store....just love going there for supplies!

Molding Paste on Vinyl

I cut out a tag shape from clear vinyl, and pushed molding paste through a stencil (from a produce bag) onto it. I rubbed out the paste in three spots then sprayed it with blue. I also cut the same tag shape from text cardstock and glued it behind the vinyl tag. I then glued the tag to my journal page. I did some stamping and spraying. The black and white dots are strips of fabric from a sewing project.

Documented Life Project Week 25

Week 25 - Add hearts to your flap.

This week's planner page went fairly quickly, as I do love hearts.
Gesso, paints, stencils, masks, and stamping. Calling this one done!

Crackled Heart

This page began with a background stamp using gesso. After a few days I went back to the page and ‘saw’ a face and part of a body. I drew these out with my Stabilo All pencil, and completed the figure. The heart is cut from a piece of book text painted with TH crackle paints from another project. A few bits of ephemera and the page was done.
This was a lot of fun-playing time!

Dance the Night Away

Here is my journal entry for today. Molding paste through a couple of stencils, then Inka Gold rubbed on for instant waxy sheen. Background with watercolours. The image is from an old soap ad. (1920's magazine)

Collage, stencils with gel medium

I started a journal spread before Christmas, got very busy and only finished it end of the year.

It started with gluing down serviettes and strips of leftover scrapbook papers.

I then stenciled and stamped over the pages, and applied gesso here and there to tone it down.

Next I added gel medium through stencils, painted the areas with sparkly paints, added some oriental fabric pieces and images.

My first post for the New Year, 2014. I will continue on this journey, and hope you do too.
Cheers!

Journal pages for September 2013

These are a few pages I have been working on in my daily art journal. I try to use my journals for any new techniques I have read about or discovered whilst doing some other art project. There is no end to the fun involved!

Dryer sheet circles

These dryer sheets were painted with acrylics, some spritzed with color mists, then edged with glitter glues. The background is sprayed with color mist as well, and three images of vintage cars added. Some doodling, and washi tape.
More summer fun!

Bird Language

The birds are under a layer of serviette tissue, with molding paste pushed through letter stencils.
I just cannot get enough of stencils - they come in so many patterns, and you can make them yourself out of plastic and a burning tool. These letter stencils are heavy paper ones from the Office supply store. Lots of spraying with mists done here as well. I am drawn to those as well...sigh.

Facial Delight

I have been watching a lot of altering done with magazine images and thought I would try it.
Here is my attempt at this technique ( I started with a background page that had leftover inks and sprays) :

Since I am not a doodler, I found this exercise quite trying. However, trying and doing is better than not knowing....so there we are!
How much of this technique do you enjoy engaging in? Write and let me know via comments...I would love to hear your views.

Face Drawing for May 7

This journal page started with a previous splattered background of stencils and spray colors.
I drew the face and continued on with the other elements on the page, but left her face with the original background colors. I really like to draw faces, but have not taken a class to learn about shading etc.

Crumpled kraft and coffee filter pocket

Here are a couple of pages I worked on recently. I started by crumpling kraft paper on the two pages and dousing them with school glue. I then cut a coffee filter into a rectange pocket for the pink tag.
Stamping with text, lady images, and postage stamps followed, along with more paints and Artbars.

Below is a closeup of the left page (my flash made it orange, sigh)
InkaGold highlights the crumpled paper.

5 Handmade sketch art journals

It is ages since I posted, but I have been busy making art of one kind or another.
I have made some leather purses, and also some sketch journals.
Here is a sampling of the journals:

These covers were made with heavy book board, with page variety.

I have detailed descriptions on my Etsy...these were a pleasure to put together!
I will post a couple of my purses very soon.
