BEACH PUZZLE MINGLE

FARM MUSIC

This quiltie was made with the starting block of a piece of fabric I was using for wiping/cleaning my paint brushes. Then I started stenciling on the top and bottom of it with stencil paint. Next I spread wall compound on areas of the fabric, squiggle-combed it, and when dry I put down a variety of Golden paints. I rewet with water, then put more colours down. The rooster is a paper serviette (1 ply). The doors and windows are game tiles that I pounced alcohol inks onto. Then lace, trims, and jewelry finding. Size 11 x 11 inches.

ALTERED CIGAR BOX

This is a box I altered for my sister Joan's birthday present. I used sewing patterns for the first base, then painted, sprayed, glued, you name it!

BEVY OF BEAUTIES

The background for the left side of this journal page is mulberry paper that I used to wipe my paint brushes on. When it was almost covered in paints, I scrunched it up, glued it down, and painted the raised areas some more after it was dry. The right page is Asian rice paper, with a stamped lady (Time to Stamp) on mulberry paper glued onto it.

CHILD'S QUESTION

This journal page was done again with stencils, rub-ons, bubble wrap, stamping and images.

FLOWER CHILDREN

Here is a book spread made with napkins, rub-ons, paints and magazine images.

Cafe du Fleur

This is a spread done using a technique called Napkin painting. I used Perfect Paper Adhesive, and I first saw them demoed at the Creative Festival in Toronto, by Susan Pickering Rothamel of USArtquest. Her samples were just awesome, very artistic.
My rendition is below. I began with a paper towel that I used to wipe my paint brushes on; when it was completely covered with a multitude of paint colours, I glued it to my book. Then I continued with the fun part - glueing on bits and pieces of napkins. I used four different napkins for this piece.
I completed the spread by using rub-ons - 'Cafe du Fleur' onto an organza ribbon, and glueing that to trail the centre of the spread.
