Here is my journal entry for today. Molding paste through a couple of stencils, then Inka Gold rubbed on for instant waxy sheen. Background with watercolours. The image is from an old soap ad. (1920's magazine)

Binder Cover for ICAD

The small binder I use for my ICAD's (index card a day) is plain old black. I decided to spruce it up a bit, using crackle, hot glue, masking tape, and lots of spray paint. Oh yes, also lots of beads, and Inka Gold rubbed over the high spots.
The centre bronze square is Lumiere painted leather. The centre tile is a counter sample, with a stamped leaf in layers of UTEE.
This was a truly fun project!

A singed fabric rose



This was a fun experiment. I found some instructions on the web, and went to town!

I first cut the eight circles different sizes, clipped them from the ends towards the centre, but not right through. I then singed the edges over a tea light candle. I used 6 pieces of satiny type fabric, and two pieces of organza. Am ready to make some more.

Let me know if you have done this in the past, or plan to make some very soon!

Trust me, it was an easy project.

Twinks Flower and fabric Jack Snow

These are the most recent pages in my columnar accounting book that I am altering.
The flower is made with Twinks and dimensional paints, from a class by Joanne Sharpe called Bling It On!
Lots of background stencilling and paint removing with baby wipes.
The bottom left is ground for pastels pushed through a stencil, then embossing powder heated. I like the resulting texture.

 

 This next page is the fabric illustration of a snowman doll I made for my sister Maureen for Christmas...she likes snowmen! I just could not throw him out...so a quick page evolved.

Folded booklet

I started Sunday off by reading this tutorial from the ScorPal site:

I decided to whip one up...nice and easy!

 

 

With three sheets of double-sided 12x12 heavy scrapbook paper, I scored, cut and folded my way into a cute booklet, with lots of flaps and a couple of pockets.

Using scrapbook paper meant I didn’t have to glue more papers onto the cardboard, as per their instructions.
I sewed the three folded pages together with a Coptic stitch.

Now it is ready for photos, and any additional embellishments.

So tell me, is this something you would give to someone in lieu of a birthday card? A small gift perhaps?

Chipboard purse book and acrylic skins

Acrylic skins are made simply by squirting paint onto a shiny surface like glossy paper, and making marks in it. Then you peel them off. The possibilities are endless.
Here are my efforts:

 

 Puff paint using gel medium

 

 Acrylic paint onto Golden Glass Bead Gel

 

 I glued the skins down with gel medium

 

This was a fun technique...I will be adding to my purse pages very soon.

Collage, stencils with gel medium

I started a journal spread before Christmas, got very busy and only finished it end of the year.

It started with gluing down serviettes and strips of leftover scrapbook papers.

 

I then stenciled and stamped over the pages, and applied gesso here and there to tone it down.

Next I added gel medium through stencils, painted the areas with sparkly paints, added some oriental fabric pieces and images.

 

My first post for the New Year, 2014. I will continue on this journey, and hope you do too.
